Claudio Limon
We may be a wee bit obsessed with artist Claudio Limon's works. The pink Otomi mural he recently did for Hotel Matilda in San Miguel is leaving us swooning over his whimsical Mexican pop-art style. Check out some of our favorite insta pics of the hotel and a handful of his illustrations. See more of his works here and here!

Huevos Motuleños
For two years now we have been reminiscing about our breakfast on that island off the Yucatan Peninsula. The breakfast that changed our lives. Okay, maybe not our lives, but it was amazing. We decided it was time to recreate that one fine dish. We pulled a recipe from Mexico: The Cookbook and put our own spin on it.
1. Instead of making the sauce from scratch we used El Pato tomato sauce (2 small cans of the salsa de chile fresco and 1 small can of the salsa de tomate con jalapeños). If you want your dish more spicy you can add another can of the salsa de tomate con jalapeños or add chopped chile serrano as a garnish.
2. We switched out the ham for some Polish Kielbasa.
So how was our version of Huevos Motuleños? Wonderful. For now it will satisfy our tastebuds until we can return once more to Isla Mujeres. Provecho!!

Eat Mexico: Book Signing and Tasting!
Come join us to meet Lesley Téllez - author, food blogger and owner of Eat Mexico - a culinary tour operated in Mexico City that focuses exclusively on street food, markets and fondas. We'll have tasty treats from her new cookbook for you to taste and delicious Mexican cocktails for you to sample as you meet and greet with the author!
About the Book: EAT MEXICO is much more than a culinary travelogue. Lesley dishes out solid, practical Mexican cooking advice, offering tips on what makes a great salsa, how to nixtamalize your own corn, how to properly fold tamales and tlacoyos, how to make an extraordinary pot of beans, and even how to line a basket for tacos de canasta. This book will be savored for years by anyone who enjoys the rush and excitement of the big city, and likes to use food as a lens to explore a foreign culture.
About the Author: Lesley Téllez is a writer, home cook and culinary guide living in New York City. In 2010 she co-founded the tourism company Eat Mexico, which offers street food and market tours in Mexico City and Puebla. She still runs Eat Mexico today, with frequent trips to Mexico's Distrito Federal.
Praise
“Reading through Lesley’s evocative Eat Mexico I could smell the crisping chicharrón, the pots of herbaceous green mole, the toasty corn masa crisping on the comal. This is a delicious work of tender, first-hand exploration…you’ll be immediately drawn into a world of honest, irresistible flavors.”

We'll be staying 8 days and 7 nights (Aug. 4-11) in a new boutique hotel located on a pedestrian-only street just a few blocks from Santo Domingo and the Zocalo. We'll learn to make tamales, moles, tortillas and many more Oaxacan specialties in the 4 cooking classes we have scheduled. We'll be working with a variety of food specialists, including a restaurant chef, a cookbook author and host of a 13-part PBS series on Oaxacan cooking, cuisine instructors and traditional cooks. You'll grind your own ingredients in molcajetes and metates, make tortillas by hand and cook in clay pots over wood fed stoves. In the evenings we'll dine at our favorite restaurants where we've set up special tasting menus - the best of each menu! Contact us if you would like more info!
