About Me

Elexia de la Parra is the founder and owner of Casa Artelexia, a retail shop located in San Diego that specializes in handcrafted Mexican gifts, art, and home décor. As the founder of Casa Artelexia, Elexia nurtured what began as a small farmers’ market stand in 2008 to what is today a thriving 5,000 square foot storefront known for its unique Mexican imports, creative cultural workshops, and lively community events.

Most recently she launched Eat.Drink.Cook.Mexico, a tour company that specializes in cultural and culinary tours to Oaxaca, Mexico and Baja California. Groups are limited in size so that participants get a taste of local culture as they visit the hottest restaurants in town, take private cooking classes, and interact with some of the region’s most renowned artisans, cooks, and chefs.

Elexia is also an active member of the community and founded Happy Art Happy Heart, an organization that provides craft workshops and birthday piñatas for children undergoing treatment at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. Elexia earned a BS in Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management from The Art Institutes in New York City and currently resides in San Diego’s hip North Park neighborhood with her husband Miguel.
