Wedding Planning: Choosing Your Colors

We did it.  We chose our wedding colors.  Phew!  It was not easy to narrow down the choices when there are soooo many lovely combinations.  How does one choose?!  We wanted there to be meaning in every little detail, right down to our color choices.  El Señor's favorite color, like most men, is blue.  Not just any bluesapphire blue (hence my ring).   That was our starting point.  I on the other hand love color.  Lots and lots of color. Have you been to the shop? ;)  But we didn't want anything too crazy or overwhelming.  So I chose a few of my favorites and luckily they all matched quite nicely with his shade of blue.  While poking around Pinterest I kept coming up on these pics below that really spoke to me.  Not only did they have the colors that we wanted but they incorporate a lovely shade of violet that was used in my mom and dad's wedding.  Sweet! This combination of colors sets the mood for the kind of wedding we want - fun and festive, yet elegant.  What do you think?  Do these work for a November Mexa themed wedding?

Wedding Planning: Where to start?!

99 Days to go until the big day. Woo hoo!  There is so much to do and I feel like I am all over the place.  One step (and breath) at a time. What do we know?  We've chosen to hold our ceremony and wedding  in my parent's backyard.  It will be early November and the weather should still be fairly warm but still cool enough.  I do not want to be sweaty.  Ick!! Day light savings will be the week prior so it'll be getting darker earlier. Ideally we'd like to have the ceremony durning sunset (you know, all romanticky and such). Then we can dangle strands of lights from all of the tree and line the table with candles.  The Señor and I love to eat al fresco so that was really important for us to incorporate into our big day.
As for who will officiate our nuptials, we've chosen one of our good friends.  Why her?  She can command an audience, she's super witty and always knows just what to say. Well, besides being the totally awesome and talented woman that she is, she sent my soon-to-be Señor into the shop to meet me. She's sneaky that one, and she told him that we would hit it off.  And that's just what happened.  He walked in and the rest is history.
Next week's to do list: invitations. Watercolors are really speaking to me right now.  AND, it could be a really fun DIY.  Is it crazy to want to make my own wedding invitations?  Since we aren't having a ton of people I figure that it could be totally manageable.  Yay? Nay?  Anyone out there make their own? I'm really digging this combination of colors.  It's colorful but still feels very "Fall". What do you think?

Britt's Picks: Bright Bedroom Inspiration

I’m usually one for earthy color palettes with a few pops of bright color here and there, but every once in a while I succumb to the more adventurous side of my design style and enjoy interiors with bright colors and lovely florals. The Pinterest bedrooms and inspiration I’ve chosen are teeming with brilliant pinks, blues, and turquoise, and mix and match different floral patterns:

De Colores: Mango Ice Cream

What I wouldn't give to be in Todos Santos right now enjoying a scoop of this delicious mango ice cream.  Happy (very hot!) Wednesday!
