Last night I went to a friend's house for dinner where she made some really amazing Mexican food. The whole meal was absolutely delicious, but what really impressed me were her super simple, no-fuss buñuelos. What are buñuelos? They are fritter of Spanish origin, typically consist of a dough that is deep fried and finished off with a sweet topping. The particular buñuelos that we had were not deep fried but baked. They were served right out of the oven, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzled with just a smidgen of chocolate syrup...
oh so good. This recipe was so easy and absolutely scrumptious that I am going to have to make them tonight for my family. They are going to love it!
Ingredients
- 1 package (of 2) frozen puff pastry sheets
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
Steps
- Remove sheets from package and thaw at room temperature 30-40 minutes
- Combine sugar and cinnamon
- Heat oven to 375
- Unfold sheets and cut each into 12 even pieces
- Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake until puffy and golden brown 10-15 minutes
- Remove from oven, and toss in sugar mix just to coat slightly - serve
Buen provecho!
